Iconography & Representation
The Figure of Shrinathji: The central figure is depicted in a classic posture associated with the Pushtimarg tradition. His face features large, stylized downcast
eyes and traditional facial contours characteristic of Nathdwara art.
Central Figure (The Deity)
Posture & Gestures: The deity is depicted standing with the left arm raised high above the head, a signature posture symbolizing the lifting of Govardhan Hill.
The right arm is positioned lower, near the waist.
Attire & Ornaments: The figure is adorned with highly detailed traditional attire and extensive jewelry, including layered necklaces (haars) that drape down the chest,
an ornate crown with a prominent fan-shaped backpiece, armlets, and bangles.
Objects Held: In the right hand, the deity holds long-stemmed lotus buds. A long staff or flute rests vertically against the right side of the figure. A decorative,
serpentine sash or garland curves elegantly on the left side of the frame.
Attendants/Elements at the Base: On the bottom right, next to the deity’s feet, is a small, beautifully detailed carving of a peacock with its feathers fanned out.
On the bottom left, there is a small covered pot or vessel.
